Winter Garden, Florida is a charming town just west of Orlando, known for its historic downtown, brick-lined streets, and vibrant mix of shops, cafes, and local culture. It’s a favorite spot for cyclists thanks to the scenic West Orange Trail, and offers a perfect blend of small-town charm, outdoor fun, and a welcoming community vibe.

The West Orange Trail
The West Orange Trail is a 22-mile paved multi-use path stretching from Killarney Station in Oakland through the heart of Winter Garden and up to Apopka. Built along a former railroad corridor, it offers a scenic and accessible route for cyclists, walkers, joggers, and skaters. The trail passes through charming downtowns, shaded woodlands, and open countryside, with several trailheads and outposts providing parking, restrooms, and bike rentals. It also connects to the South Lake and Lake Minneola Scenic Trails, creating a continuous 32-mile route for longer rides.
Connecting the West Orange Trail with Magnolia park:
Orange County has officially broken ground on the Lake Apopka Connector Trail, a $10 million project that will link the West Orange Trail to the Lake Apopka Loop Trail at Magnolia Park.
This 3.23-mile shared-use path will feature a 10 to14 foot wide concrete surface, two rest areas, and a 100 foot boardwalk section through the Northwest Orange Water Reclamation Facility . Once completed, the trail will enable cyclists to enjoy a continuous 42 mile loop around Lake Apopka, enhancing connectivity and recreational opportunities in the region . Construction is expected to be completed by March 2026 .
